I drive all the way which is over an hour wait 3 hours then consultant tells me there's no bednd they let me know when there is one. Had to drive home and hope one becomes available in next couple of days.
this is really bad for my mental health.

Sorry to hear this Alice, an unfortunate aspect of our wonderful NHS.
In these times you just need to control that whirlwind that is spinning in your head.
Note to self - Phone the hospital before leaving as they will often have an idea that this may well be the case.
((hugs))
Hi not ideal and not what you want as you just want to get on with it and get to the transplant, lets hope you get the call tomorrow as often they try to discharge patients ready for the weekend, especially when its a bank holiday. When they do ring though make sure the is no chance the bed can be given away whilst you drive to the hospital.
fingers crossed
John
Hi Alice. This happened to me last year. Fortunately my consultant played the system by admitting me on to the medical emergencies ward rather than the cancer ward. He said if I had already been admitted, the first bed to become available on the cancer ward would be mine. I was transferred 24 hours later and started treatment right away. Shouldn’t have to be that way but our wonderful hospitals are just overloaded. Hope this is helpful. Warm Wishes
