Hi guys I'm starting chemo tomorrow GDP for dbcl again after relapse and really worried about using cisplatin as don't want to lose my hearing on top of everything else. Anyone else used this or offered alternative carboplatin?
Many thanks

Hi Alice, not sure if you will get much of a response in this group so I would suggest post this in the stem cell transplant group as a number have had GDP and a handful had dlbc and I am sure others may have had cisplatin or carboplatin.
Have you discussed your concerns and have they considered any other options ? I know ICE or R-ICE has carboplatin as part of the regime and that seems to be making a come back as salvage therapy,
hope you get some answers
John
Good morning Alice Alice123 and first a ((hug))
Sorry to be late getting back to you. I do get your concerns and yes there is a chance of hearing problems with Cisplain..... but its the same with a very high percentage of chemos. In fact my hearing has been permanently damaged due to one of the first chemos I had..... but I keep thinking about the greater good in all this.
As John says, worth joining the Stem cell transplants for blood cancers as GDP is used as a salvage treatment preparing for Stem Cell Transplant - I was looking through your past posts (good to have some information in your profile),,,,,,,, has Stem Cell Transplant been mentioned to you?
With following up on Johns suggestions.
((hugs))
Hi guys
Thanks for your support. I started relapse salvage rituxan and gemasomething last week at royal Marsden. So far just been exhausted. The lymphoma has reduced dramatically in few short days. Got my next session tomorrow and then one more week after with carboplatin.

Hi just a quick.update
It's been just over a week since I finished first RICE. My neutrofils went to zero on Friday so spent my weekend at my local hospital as a precaution. I also had platelet infusion done there which really helped. Yesterday they went to to 1.7 and came home in evening. So glad to be back in my bed again.
I'm feeling better like I have my strength back and have another blood test tomorrow at the Marsden and should start second round MATRIX in couple of weeks as inpatient.
Take care all

Hi Alice, sorry to hear you had some NHS DB&B but further down the line you will look back on these occasions and they will look fuzzy round the edges.
But it does show how effective these treatments are so take your neuts going to 0 as an encouragement and their recovery also as an encouragement.
How long are going to be in Hospital having your Matrix?
You are doing great ((hugs))
Thank you its been bit scary my first day I had intrathecal but they gave me gas and air and they put in picc line which wasnt expecting. Everyone at hospital has been so lovely and ive had either my husband or mum stay the night with me so I've never been alone.
im not too sure maybe a week in hospital with matrix depending on recovery time. After that il have a pet scan and maybe one more rice before stem cell transplant.
