I had my last R-Chop session in May, unfortunately it didn’t work, but I’m still having back pain, nothing I do helps. Is this normal?
Hi again Bonus there are various reasons for upper back pain…… have you talked this through with your GP or hospital team yet?
I am over 10 years out from my main chemo (R-EPOCH) and I still have random pain in my neck down my left arm and sometimes across my back and neck due to the nerve and muscle damage where my mass was…… I also have upper back pain when I am more active especially during the summer…….. but I also had upper back pain in April 2022 when I was having mini hearth attacks…. but a few stents fixed this.
Thank you, yes spoke to my GP, who diagnosed muscular, my team hadn’t got an answer. Some days it reduces me to tears, so think I’ll try physio, my main mass was in the tummy.
Our local Maggie's Centre run a weekly circuits group that is run by a specialist cancer trained fitness instructor and they set exercises for each person to do in the group but also at home….. this made a massive difference to my muscle wastage but also my damaged nerves and muscles .
The muscle wastage during and post treatment can be excessive. I left the SCT unit in a wheelchair so had physiotherapy for 3 months to get me back in my feet but it took a further 2 years at the exercise group to say I had pushed through and out the other side.
Thank you Mike, I'll look into that, it certainly seems to have helped you. Well done to you.
