I was only diagnosed in November. They found the liver tumours first and following Pet scan the primary was found hiding in the small bowel. I honestly haven’t been honest with myself and use my humour to distract. My work know and immediate family but no one else. I know NETs seems the unknown but. I am waiting for surgery on my bowel but no speak of radiotherapy or chemo instead just a hormone called somastatin. I have been told they cannot operate on my liver as there are too many tumours. I youngish and otherwise very healthy. I want to escape and go on holiday but the insurance is thousands. Has anyone started the road of treatment?  X

  • How are you doing? X

  • Hi I’m okish. I received the phone call saying due to the intensive growth on my liver I am definitely going to be starting PRRT. I’m not sure how I feel. It’s good in one respect as hopefully it will slow the growth speed but shocked sad that they have grown enough to warrant the next line of treatment. Apparently I’ll be starting in November, but it could be earlier. I suppose I’ll just wait for my appointment to arrive. I really wanted to remain at work but work are starting to be awkward with me when I have hospital appointments and tests etc so I can only imagine what they will think when I have to tell them about the new treatment. It’s hard enough battling but to then have to battle to keep your job!! It’s very tiring.
anyway how are you? Hope you and your husband are both well and enjoying everything life can give you. Hopefully everything is going well and your husbands tumours are behaving?
thank you for your support Gift heart it must be hard for you, family members need to look after themselves and be kind to themselves not just worry about the family members who are unwell.

  • Rache, how are you getting on? Hope the PRRT is doing it’s thing and that you are coping ok x

  • Rache hope you are managing the PRRT ok x

  • Hi I have nets. On my liver in my bone marrow and lymph node all like you came as a surprise and started in my small bowel. I can’t be operated on because they would have to remove quite a lot of my intestines and if the op was a success my quality of life would be poor. So I’m staying on sandastatin injections monthly and Pregablin pain relief plus my patch on my arm of morphine. Back in July they did a procedure on my liver to block off one side of the blood supply hasn’t made that much difference really. My only problem now is to control my bowels so I’ve been put on Creon tabs 3 with each meal hopefully it will work because then my quality of life would be ok. Hope I’ve helped if you have any questions just ask I’ve been with Nets for 12yrs.

  • Hi the PRRT is intense but ok. I have had 2x rounds third in 2weeks. I have lost quite a bit of hair which isn't great but small price to pay if it helps.
How are things with you? Hope you are both doing well x

  • Wow it doesn't sound great. Is there nothing more that can be done? Iam having PRRT and I read that there is a new drug currently being tested. I have to take creon, I take between 4/5 with large meals and 2/3 with snacks. Without the freon I lose weight and become deficient in vitamins. It isn't good that an operation on your bowel isn't possible, I'm really sorry to hear this.
    Take care

  • Yes that’s what’s happening to me re-vitamins. Sometimes I take the cream out of the capsule sprinkle it onto my food if it’s something I can just swallow mixed in with the food cause the tabs are quite large. Hope the prrt is a success.
    take care.

  • I take the creon after the first mouthful of food but recently trying to split them and take two half way through my meal. Good shout about sprinkling the contents they are very large. The creon do help, just takes a while for your body to get used to the enzymes.

I am pleased to see 12yrs and still going. With the amount of liver tumours I have I didn't think 10yrs was possible. Take care and stay strong x

  • Hi can I ask where about you are? I'm in Liverpool and I need Prrt treatment but its not funded by the NHS. So I have to raise the money myself and its so expensive x
