Diagnosis

Hello,

Sadly, my mum has just been diagnosed with Net Cancer. She has a mass of tumours on her liver. Scans, blood tests, urine and biopsy can pin point the source of the cancer. Surgery hasn’t been offered. She will start chemotherapy in a couple of weeks to contain the liver mass. Today, we were told that it’s an aggressive form of cancer and the stage is 4. However I’m confused how this can be, because scans, blood test, urine sample has not confirmed it has spread. From my research, it seems that it is localised. Has anyone had any experience of this?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your mum has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer and I know what a difficult time this will be for the whole family.

I can't help with your question, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
