Hi, my husband has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine malignancy soft cell cancer - apparently it’s rare and aggressive.  It all started back in January 2022 but after a missed diagnosis then, was finally identified in June2022.  He has 13 tumours throughout his body and is 2 chemo cycles into a 4 cycle programme.  We’ve been told it’s terminal and prognosis is anywhere between 6 months and 2 years.  We’ve got additional concerns at the moment as he is struggling with mobility and slurred speech and we’re waiting results of a head scan last week.  He’s 64 and I’m 53 - I feel so tired as I’m also trying to hold down a full time job as a senior manager and although work have been brilliant allowing me time off for hospital appointments, it is also my sanctuary and my ‘normal’.  I’m struggling to sleep and am often laying wide awake listening to him snoring next door.  I’m not even sure what support I need or want but I do know that I’m not coping well and am not sure where to turn and have landed here.  Sorry for my rambles but in offloading my story, I’m hoping someone on here has been in the place I’m in and can shed some light on what I should do next as I seem to have lost my way.  Many thanks Pray

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It sounds like you and your husband are going through an incredibly hard time at the moment but it's great that you've reached out for support.

As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to suggest a couple more groups for you to join which should provide the support you're looking for. They are the carers only group and the supporting someone with incurable cancer group. Both are safe and supportive places to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer and lots of people in them will identify with the demands of holding down a job whilst also assuming a caring role.

If you'd like to join, just click on the links I've created and then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

I'm also going to add a link to a newly created blog which gives lots of information on how to find support within the online community.

    (((hugs)))
