I had a right hemicolectomy five weeks ago. In the past week I have been getting pain on the right side near my naval. I also have diarrhoea. I have been for a CT scan and blood tests. Im really worried as cancerous lymph nodes were found. How worried should I be? Will that pain go that is on my right side? What is causing the pain? I see the consultant tommorow. Has anyone else had this?
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to hear that you're in a lot of pain and also worried about the cancer that has been found in your lymph nodes.
I can't help with any of your questions, as I had a different type of cancer, but I noticed that you hadn't had a response yet and I didn't want to just 'pass by' without saying hello.
I'm hoping that your appointment with your consultant went well yesterday and they have answered all your questions.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. If you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Do come back and let the group know how you got on yesterday.

Hi Juey,
I also had a right hemicolectomy after my appendix operation which had a sizeable cancerous tumour in it.
I am very lucky that no cancer had spread into this area. But since my second operation I still have numbness near my scar but also pain on my right side and near my navel.
I was informed before my right hemicolectomy that I had a lot of adhesions and that might be causing the pain. During the op they also discovered a cyst on my ovary and it was freed.
I have lost a lot of weight due to having pain and I'm not certain if when I eat I get more pain and it probably has become a psychological fear.
I have not contacted my doctor yet as Im sure he will probably say you are still healing and I don't want to be a nuisance.
I hope that your consultant was able to clarify things for you and I wish you well.
Suzie
