Hello I’m new to the group. I was diagnosed September 2022 with multiple myeloma. I finished treatment 1st round but the light chains coming down slowly & did rise at one point I am now on a 2nd round of treatment different approach to bring the light chains down if successful it’s all go for the stem cell transplant. This has really thrown me as I am a very positive strong person when I got the news of the first treatment not being as successful as it should my emotions have been all over the place. Has anyone had this result from treatment finding it a little bit difficult. Would appreciate any advice.

  • Hi again  and a warm welcome across to this corner of the Community although I am sorry to hear about your journey.

I am Mike and I help out around our various Blood Cancer groups. I don’t have Myeloma but I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Stage 4) so although my Blood Cancer ‘type’ is different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well but not the specifics of your condition……. but I do understand Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) as I have had 2 Allo (donor) SCTs the first in June 2014 then in Oct 2015 and been in remission since Sep 2016.

Let’s look for the group members to pick up on your post. There are a number of active group members at the moment so why not click on the main ‘Myeloma Group’ title and this will bring up all the group posts. Have a look at the posts and as always you can hit reply to any post and connect in with the wider group conversations.

We also have a dedicated Stem cell transplant support group where folks from different blood cancer support each other on the SCT journey.

You may also want to check to see if you have a Maggie's Centre in your area as these folks are amazing and most centres do run monthly Heamatology Support Groups most are online at the moment….. the one I attend does have a few folks with Myeloma in it so worth checking.

Always around to help more or just to chat.
