Hi my mum has multiple myeloma, diagnosed 2.5 years ago she's been a remission once for 9moths after valcade and Dexamethasone. When the myeloma came back in March last year she was very ill after first month on chemo and was in hospital and was told the chemo was working and she may only have abit of time left, fast forward 2 months and she was fine and it ended up been that she was dehydrated!! Back on chemo and for months her protein and light chains where up and down must of said they was going to change the chemo and least 3 time but then protein would go back down again so doctored ordered a bone marrow biopsy which was clear, so today back for a check up after 2 months her last check up her red blood cells had finally gone up abit to 99 and protein was 6 and light chains was 170 and bone marrow showed no active myeloma so my questions are
1. If no active cells in bone marrow why does she still have a protein level of 6 or is this normal??
2. If no active cells in bone marrow does this mean she's in remission again even though her protein isn't 0??
3. has this happened to anyone else??
Thanks for reading
