Hi I’m not new but find it difficult to post I don’t know why? I have MM I have had treatment , 2 SCT & I am on maintenace drug Lenodinide. This past week I have had pain in shoulder, neck & arm pain/ache & is not getting better I struggle to find a comfortable position. I have spoken to my specialist nurse who advised me to wait if possible when I go back in a week for regular checks if it gets worse see my GP. I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this? I also have neuropathy in hands & feet so I do experience numbness.
many thanks
Jacquie
Hi Jacquie my husband is also on maintenance with Lenalidomide he has only had a single stem cell transplant but like you suffers with shoulder and arm pains sometimes . I worried at first that maybe the maintenance had stopped working but so far his bloods are good and the pain does subside after a few days of resting it and a heat pad . I did check his original diagnosis letter and on his it does mention a lesion in T 3 although his main problems centred on L3 and 4 as is so common but that made sense of why his shoulder aches when he over stretches his arms. Good luck at your appointment next week and I hope you find something that helps with the pain .
Thank you Kent Lass for your reply. I am sure I will get support with the pain. I also have lesions in my shoulders & sternum like you I wonder if anything is on the move but at appts all is stable which is brilliant. I wish you & your husband all the best.
best wishes
Jacquie
Hi Kent Lass Thank you for asking just scfew things going on. My consultant was concerned as I have lesions in my shoulder areas so will request scan my last one was July 2024, my light chains have risen, my neutrophils are down low 0.6 so little bits going on. He decided not to continue with Lenedonide as it can cause these blood I go back next Tuesday 4th March for bloods to be done again & see what is happening ??
I am positive just little blips happening & will all calm down
Jacquie
So I had MRI scan & it showed change in spine wear & tear in neck area & middle back no trace of disease which is great so am being treated with steroids for 4 days high dose to reduce inflammation & take pressure from neck & spine. I am glad they found what is happening but scary many things to look out for. While this has been going on there has been a rise in my light chains & a drop in neutrophils I am on injections for this to help my neutrophils rise, I am seeing consultant next Tuesday. Lots going on but I have a great team & I am positive I have been in complete remission for 18months just a bit of a shock.
Glad your being well looked after and that your scan shows no active myeloma I will keep everything crossed that the steroids do their job and that they ease the pain in the mean time you will have a really good excuse to eat for England you can say it’s your pills . My husband is again suffering with shoulder pain but he pushed himself to far think he finds it so frustrating seeing me do all the heavy work that he once did .
I am starting to get the hospital dread he has a cystoscopy in a couple of weeks to make sure the bladder cancer that was found as a consequence of his myeloma scans hasn’t returned . He takes it all in his stride but I worry that it opens him up to infection as like you all his blood levels are below normal waiting to see if the urologist will give him some prophylactic antibiotics which the haematologist has suggested by letter to him bur so far no response .
Good luck next week hope all goes well.
