My  Father aged 84 got diagnosed with Myeloma in 2018 and had 14 cycles chemotherapy and some radiotherapy this year as it was in the head . No more treatment is advised now as he has severe Alzheimer’s now .

August this year he broke his leg and was told he had months to live . Previously told a few months before that he had weeks .

His mobility has really deteriorated over the last few weeks and is dragging the leg that he didn’t break !

A recent blood test shows that his para protein is 6 . Has been 14 and 7 . This is great news but I am so confused ???

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am sorry to see you joining us and hear about your dad’s diagnosis and journey.

I am Mike and I help out around our various Blood Cancer groups. I don’t have Myeloma but I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a very rare (also incurable) but treatable type of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Stage 4 in late 2013) so although my Blood Cancer ‘type’ is rather different I do appreciate the challenges of living with an incurable blood cancer…… although I have no answer for why your dad’s para protein is changing as it is doing…… definitely a question for your dad’s medical professionals
