Hello

I m new on here but was diagnosed with MGUS in 2018 .

I am presently in hospital with a compression fracture in my upper spine.

Haemotology and oncology are involved eith me as I had Breast Cancer in 2015.

The consultants dont know if the lesion on my spine is related to myeloma or BC or indeed is osteoporitic.

Sorry for the long contextual info but its all relevant .

My haemotologist says shes holding off chemo for now because my bloods are still showing small rises but are at MGUs levels.

So if this has now tipped into myeloma csn anyone explain what the treatment will look like ? I m reading that many of you have had chemo but she saying I m eligible for STC snd so she doesnt want to start chemo yet x

Lots of ifs and buts but I m sitting in hospital feeling very confused so any help would be gratefully received x

Myras girl xx

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am sorry to see you joining us and hear about the journey you have been on.

I am Mike and I help out around our various Blood Cancer groups. I don’t have Myeloma but I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a very rare (also incurable) but treatable type of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Stage 4 in late 2013) so although my Blood Cancer ‘type’ is rather different I do appreciate the challenges of living with an incurable blood cancer but I am no expert in the treatments used….. although I know Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) very well as I have had 2 Allo (donor) SCTs

There are a few active members at the moment so let’s look for them to pick up on your post.

For good information do check out Myeloma UK who produce very good information and run various support platforms including their Buddy Scheme, they also have a Support Line on 0800 980 3332

Always around to help more or just to chat.
