Well have just been given the date for my next treatment, which is stem cell surgery. March 2nd. Have very mixed emotions right now. On the one hand just want to get this going, its seems like ages since I was diagnosed, and really want to move on and get this step over with. But it is also tinged with trepidation, knowing what the list of side effects are or could be, coping with them.

And what if it does not work?

Loads of stuff worling around my head right now.

  • Hi Tony,

Welcome to the forum although I’m really sorry for the reasons you had to post.

I think everything you describe is entirely reasonable. An SCT is a big procedure, I can understand why you want to get on with it and are feeling trepidatious at the same time. I think all you can do is knuckle down and get on with it, one day at a time. They are not much fun, but I’ve had two of them and whilst tough, they are doable, a necessary hurdle to get you where you want to be.

If you like, feel free to check out the Stem Cell Transplants for Blood Cancers - Forum part of the forum - it’s dedicated to the unique world of SCTs and you may find someone who is going through it at the exact same time.
But please continue to use this space for the myeloma specific stuff as well, hopefully you’ll find a lot of support here.

    Greg
