Hi. I wonder if I can get some help from anybody please.
I have been on treatment since February. I have had my Priming and Harvesting just over a month ago. I was due to have my SCT around October but unfortunately I have to have another 8 weeks treatment.
My real problem now is since I had the huge dose of cyclophosphamide at Priming my hair started falling out big time and I started to get a very sore and itchy scalp. Hence I had it cut/shaved (not close though). I now have an extremely sore scalp with red spots. These are becoming very painful.
Can anybody advise as what may help. I’m still waiting for my health team to get back to me.
Thank you for any support.
Hi Constance I had sct in February this year. Your post reminded me that the same thing happened to me after the cyclophosphamide. My scalp was really sore like sunburn but it didn't last too long I dont think. My hair became very patchy but as it was winter I was able to wear beanie hats or scarves. If it's any consolation whilst the whole process is pretty grim when you're going through it the memories do fade quite quickly. Now six months post transplant it all seems a very long time ago. It's a long recovery but you will get there. My hair is now growing back but it is very thick and curly. I always had dead straight fine hair before! It's quite a shock and I haven't a clue what to do with it! Hope you get some helpful tips from your health team. Best wishes for your ongoing treatment. Keep on keeping on! Love Suex
Hi Sue
Thank you so much for your reply. It helps to know I’m not alone with the various issues that arise from my treatment.
I will be talking to my nurse about what is going on with my scalp and hopefully she will be able to prescribe something that may help.
I am disappointed that my SCT has been delayed and to go in another treatment regime. I’m hoping it will be for the best results in the long run.
It has been a long journey so far since February but your words of encouragement and positivity has helped me.
I hope your recovery continues well and I may be asking for your advice in the future if my hair grows back thick and curly!!
Take care
Constance
