I have recently been diagnosed with mm on my 3rd cycle of vtd, I'm struggling with my emotions right now I'm trying to be strong but it's hard
Hi Kate,
Welcome to this corner of the forum although I’m really sorry that you had to join. Struggling with emotions is definitely to be expected, you’ve had a life-changing diagnosis and that is going to take a long time to process. The dex is going to accentuate emotions too. I hope you’ll find a lot of support here. How have your blood results been since starting on treatment?
Greg
Hi Kate
That profound shock to the core of diagnosis takes time to leave, but eventually myeloma isn't all consuming. I'm 5 months post SCT now, 13 months since treatment started. I feel really well as far as the myeloma is concerned, I'm only having routine monthly appointments at the hospital, and my life is no longer dominated by myeloma. I wish I'd had confidence this would be the case last year when my life was dominated by treatments.
I found my local Maggie's centre helpful, and a cancer care centre, which provided wonderful treatments such as yoga, massage & reflexology. Through these I have met other people dealing with cancer, some of whom I now feel very close to.
