Has any myeloma patients gone abroad during post SCT injection programme (pre covid obvs!) without any problems,or were you advised not to go? In a bit of a quandary at the moment.
Hi Steve,
Good to hear from you again, how are you getting on?
I am not sure I am going to be too much help to you unfortunately. It was a couple of years post-transplant before I decided to go abroad. It wasn’t necessarily due to medical advice, just more what I felt comfortable with as I had had a bit of a rough ride after the allo.
I think the best bet would be to talk it through with your medical team. I think they advise against overseas travel in the first 6 months after transplant but will always discuss it with patients so I reckon that is probably your best bet.
Here’s hoping you get the answer you’re looking for!
Greg
Hi Greg. Feeling really good, back on my motorbike and everything but still shielding. My treatment cycle finished last July but a stomach op unrelated to myeloma put my SCT back three months. Effectively been in lockdown since January post transplant but all is fine. My contact at hospital now advises against Benidorm but reckons Devon is OK if government guidelines permit so must'nt grumble. Hope you're doing well and thanks for replying.
