Hi, I ve been recently diagnosed with nodular melanoma. It's graded as a T1b with mitotic rate of 2, so I am having a sentinel lymph node biopsy soon. The mole was on my upper thigh so most probably will be nodes in groin. Can anyone who has undergone this tell me what to expect in terms of pain afterwards or even anything you wished you had known before the surgery. Also any tips for after would be appreciated. I am usually very active, running, cycling, hiking & skating, so I kniw I'll find it hard to sit it out.
Hi Flamingo and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community.
Although I've had a sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) it wasn't in my groin so my experience probably wouldn't be very useful. However, there are lots of people in the group who have had a SLNB in their groin and I've 'tagged' the most recent posters, sarafyn and Doulou , into my reply in the hope that they'll pop on and share their experiences with you.
Wishing you all the best
Anne
