Partner’s diagnosis

Hi…I’m not sure where to start. My partner has been treated for secondary cancer in his lymph nodes as the primary melanoma was never found. After starting immunotherapy we were told this hadn’t worked and he is now on tablet meds. The cancer has spread to his spine, lung and oesophagus. I am terrified and struggling to come to terms with it. Does anyone else have a similar experience or advice on how to cope with this? Thank you in advance x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to our little group.

I was diagnosed with melanoma nearly 9 years ago now and I know how difficult it is for both the person with the cancer as well as their partner and wider family.

I didn't have a spread with mine but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again as there are people here who are having treatment for melanoma which has spread. Hopefully one or two of them will pop on soon to share their experiences with you.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Sending virtual ((hugs))

  • Thank you so much for your message and it’s good to hear that your cancer didn’t spread. I have updated my profile as you suggested. With best wishes Slight smile
