Hi I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed with a right cheek melanoma in June 2023. Had a biopsy which proved cancerous. I had an operation in November 2023 to remove the melanoma, which required a skin sweep from my neck. I also had my neck lymph nodes removed as well. I was lucky not have any further treatment at this time. I have been having three monthly checks either with my MacMillan Cancer Nurse or MRI and PET scan. All was going well until November 2024 when the PET scan showed I have a melanoma tumour on my right lung. Obviously this was a real shock. I was fast tracked for more scans and blood tests. I am now under the Royal Brompton Hospital. I have had a Video Appointment with the Consultant and now waiting for an appointment to have the tumour removed and lymph nodes. The waiting is awful!!

Hi Conja
I 'spoke' to you in New to the Community and I'm glad to see you've found your way here.
There are various people who have posted in the group to say they have lung mets and you might take comfort from this post which Allyona posted recently.
Waiting for treatment and results is a horrible time and I found the best way of dealing with it was to spend as much of time as possible doing things that I enjoyed so that I had less time to worry about the 'what ifs'.
Let us know when you have a date for your surgery.
Hi Conja.
I'll add my positive input to Latchbrook's recent reply.
I also had lung and liver mets, however a full course of immunotherapy over 24 months has left me with No Evidence of Disease (i.e. remission).
I tolerated the treatment (albeit with a long-term legacy requiring low-dose steroid tablets every day) without significant day to day side effects during the treatment.
So in summary, full response to treatment with no particularly nasty side effects during the treatment. Not a bad outcome!!
All the best and good luck for the future.
