Can I just ask some opinion/advice guys please, been an active member on the community for more than eight years now but in the head/neck section. Yesterday I noticed a "mole" on my hand, it doesn't protude at all, doesn't itch but with my history everything is threatening in my head! Is it something I should be seeing my GP about or am I over-reacting? It literally appeared out of the blue yesterday, might have been there for a while but I'd not noticed it.
.
Hi MikeO
The safest thing to do is to make an appointment to see your GP. If the GP thinks it needs looking at by a specialist you'll get a referral to see a dermatologist. It could well be nothing but it's always best to get these things checked.
Let us know what the GP says and, in the meantime, try not to worry.

Thanks for that, think I'll probably do an "E Consult" in the morning, my surgery are pretty good at responding to those; best to get it checked as you say.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Hi Mike,
Definitely the right thing to do to get it checked out!!
I phoned my surgery and explained about my mole when I discovered it. They sent me a link to attach a photo to (so might be worth taking one). I did that and the doctor phoned me within a couple of hours, fitted me in for an appointment the same day and did the urgent referral at that appointment.
Just an option to think about. Hope it turns out alright for you.
Thanks for that Anne, I did actually put a photo in my original post but that contravened Macmillan guidelines, understandably really, we're not here to hand out medical advice. There is actually the option to add a photo in the E Consult thing my surgery runs, I've used it before, so I'll do that.
Can't phone them unfortunately as my last skirmish with cancer left me with no vocal chords

Thanks Anne, they've had a look at the photo and have given me a face to face appointment on Monday, will report back.

Hi Mike,
So glad they are seeing you face to face at least it can be properly looked at etc
Yes please report back! I am getting a bit nervous now waiting for my results. Trying to put it to the back of my mind but it keeps creeping forward, damn!!!
Saw a GP today, one I'd not seen before, worryingly called Dr Ahmad Risk (honestly), but he said it's unlikely to be anything to be concerned about. Just said to take photos and compare, and go back if there was any change in size/colour/shape, so all looking good at the mo.
