All,
New here so just saying 'hi'.
Was diagnosed with melanoma/skin cancer back in April but currently waiting on some sentinal lymph node biopsy results to see if has travelled.
Looking forward to watching the ladies football semi-final tonight on BBC so I can forget about the 'c' word for a couple of hours.
Anyone else going to watch it?
Hi Elmer
I’m Penny, I’ve not been formally diagnosed but have received a‘clinical diagnosis of melanoma’. I have my first appointment tomorrow with plastic surgery team so hopefully get some more information there.
sorry to hear that you are on this journey!
I will be watching the football too, with everything crossed!
Hi Penny,
Well that game was another sporting rollercoaster. Great example for all of us on perseverance and never giving up.
Sorry to hear that you are also on the melanoma path.
I hope your appointment with the plastic surgery team goes well.
There was talk of a skin graft to cover the two cuts they recently made on my head but luckily they decided I had quite rubbery skin on my head and they just stitched it all back together. It’s a little on the tight at the moment but it’s slowly easing as everything settles and stretches,
Do keep us posted on your journey.
Yes, what a game! Can’t wait for the final, though hopefully won’t be as nail biting.
thank you for your well wishes and same to you.
im booked in for removal but the surgeon said results are taking 8-12 weeks!! So won’t know anything certain for some time.
Penny,
I received a letter today.
Appointment now through for August 12th to discuss my biopsy results. That'll be just short of 6 weeks from the op.
Fingers crossed your wait is not 8 - 12 weeks.
Hi Elmer, I was diagnosed in June after a ten day wait. Got wide excision early as the consultant thought there might be some melanoma left, but no, it was clear and no lymph biopsy required so I've been given my discharge papers! Checkup at Christmas, then once a year for five years. It's been a strange two months, almost unbelievable, until I look at the 4 inch scar on my arm. My melanoma was .8mm with no ulceration, so described as thin. I'm 61 and starting to feely age! Good luck with your results and treatment. Xx
Thank you. Good luck with your results my biopsy has been brought forward to Monday. The plastic surgeon I saw advised they would call when the results are ready so hopefully that might speed things along
Hi Warmington,
Love that positivity! I am historically a glass half full sort of guy.
My melanoma was quite deep 2.77mm and at that point they offer the extra excision and the lymph node biopsy. Needless to say I was more than happy for them to do extra testing to see if has travelled elsewhere.
Fingers crossed I follow a similar pathway to you....
Penny,
Hope all goes well for you on Monday!
We are away next week. So hopefully catch up when I return!
Keep smiling!
Well Elmer, They're keeping on top of it and that's the important thing. Best wishes for a great outcome. X
Hi Elmer, it’s lovely to watch something you like on TV, or read a good book, go for a walk, listen to music anything to give you something else to think about for a while. I was diagnosed in June and I’m currently just trying to take it one day at a time.
sorry not a big footie fan but the girls were great, much better than the lads
