Hi
I have just joined this forum. I was diagnosed with a melanoma 3 months ago and I have had my second procedure done two weeks a go. My stitches came out today and the scar is huge and horrific!! Anyone else left with a huge scar?
It's all healed really well. The scars and colour really settled down and now match my normal skin tone pretty well. I do have a very minor hypertrophic scarring but it's faded a lot too now is just a little slight bump.
My skin graph did take a while to heal so they did give me steroid cream to help it along.
Ahhh that's really good to know! I'll keep. Using it and hopefully it will look a bit better over time. Do you mind me asking where your scar is as I know it heals different on different parts of the body as mine is starting to go quite wide maybe because of the tension I'm not too sure but glad your all healed well
Hi Chelthoniangirl,
Mine is just above my knee as well. I've seen it for the first time this week when they took off the stitches. It's not pretty to look at but I have made my peace with it.
Are you back to your normal mobility? I am still skipping and it's quite tight around the wound.

Just, my 12 stitches came out last Tuesday. It is still sore but not as tight as it has been. I love running and cycling and have really missed any kind of exercise. It just seems so odd that the mole was tiny and now, I have this huge reminder of it for the rest of my life! I know I am lucky that the mole has now been removed but it still takes time to come to terms with it. I need to make my peace with it too.
I am normally an active person too and especially second week after surgery I find it difficult not to move too much. I am looking forward to going back to my usual self. I've been signed off from work for a month as I have to be quite active and its a very stressful environment. Hope you are having some time off from work to relax and come to terms with it.
Keep posting and let us know how you keeping.
Sadly not, I'm a teacher so unable to have time off! My class have been great though and have learnt a great about staying safe in the sun!
Mine was actually on the side of my face, just in front of my ear.
I had a WLE and skin graph so it may be a little different to a WLE. I'd imagine without a skin graph it may be a bit tighter.
Please spare a thought for those that have been permanently disfigured by their WLE. I for one have a huge bald patch on the top of my head together with most of the back of my head and left side of my neck removed. Others are less fortunate than me with facial disfigurement as a result of this dreaded disease. I think you have more to worry about than a scar on your knee to be honest.
