Hi,
I am now 5 months post WLE and SLNB and whilst my SLNB scar is barely noticeable my WLE is uncomfortable, tight and hard. It is 10cm long across my elbow, I have constant burning tingling sensation and I can’t lift anything heavy. I am using Dr Organics Scar cream , Vaseline and coconut oil massaging it in two to three times a day which doesn’t seem to be improving it at all.
Has anyone got any recommendation for managing tight ugly scars? Many thanks
Hi Catnan
Having a constant burning sensation coupled with not being able to lift anything heavy and the scar being tight and ugly must be very distressing.
I haven't had these complications from my WLE but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list again.
I presume that you've spoken to your SCNS about the issues you're dealing with? You could also speak to the nurses on the Macmillan Support Line to see if they can suggest anything to help. They are available daily from 9am to 8pm on 0808 808 0000.

Thanks Latchbrook, I haven’t spoken to SCNS as I didn’t even think of that! I’ll give them a call
Let us know what she says please as it'll be useful for others in the future.

Hi Latchbrook,
i’ve contacted my SCNS and she said that I’m doing everything right however she is referring me back to my surgeon. Further investigation on Google suggests that the scar is hypertrophic not keloid there does seem to be treatment options available I’ll just have to wait and see what he says. I really just wanted someone to tell me about a magic scar reducing cream
I wish I could, but that's good that your SCNS is referring you back to your surgeon.️️
Hi – this is not a recommendation!! Definitely one for the team to advise on. Just wanted to say sometimes scars can be treated with specialist plasters rather than cream. Worked for my daughter but only after medical recommendation!! I only mentioned this because we got lucky with something easy like cream but not cream. Other options were mentioned to us too. Really got to check with the team as individual cases do vary.
