Sorry if this has been asked in a previous thread. I had a punch excision and an elliptical one just under 3 weeks ago now. Six week wait for results apparently.
The punch on my calf was to remove a small mole that initially bled then scabbed over without healing properly underneath - the new skin wasn't forming
Not sure whether this is parnoia but it seems to be 'healing' the same way - Crusting over but not healing underneath - except now its over a larger area. To my eyes it looks just like the original mole looked in appearance.
The eliptical one seems to be healing just fine and looks different to the punch.
Now it may just be a normal healing process that is taking longer in that location. It's not sore or itchy (my initial mole wasn't either).
What is the etticate for getting it checked, Do you have to wait until your results are through before you can ask a dermatologist or do you just go to the local docs?
Don't want to put anyone out as its probably just healing normally.
Anyone experienced similar after punch biopsy?
How long before they should be pretty much healed?
Cheers
Hi Stephen_B
I'm sorry to read that you're experiencing problems with one of your excision sites.
You should have been given contact details, when you had the excisions, so that you could contact your hospital team if you had any problems. Do you have these detail? They would be the same ones that you were told to ring if you hadn't had your results back by the date you were advised. If so give them a call in the morning.
If you weren't given these details then phone your consultant's secretary and ask to be put through to one of the skin cancer specialist nurses. They can then advise you and arrange for you to go in if necessary.
Let us know how you get on.
Thanks for the reply Latchbrook. Yes I have those details. I'll give it a few more days and see if there's any change. Don't want to waste anybody's time for no reason.
Kind regards
Steve
