Hello to everyone!

My father was diagnosed a year ago with malignant melanoma stage 3c. He has positive lymph nodes and he started immunotherapy with pembro that didnt work. He relapsed and before three months he did total lymphadectomy. From the biopsy become that the tumor was stage 3d and braf mutant . So he is doing targeted therapy with encorafenib and binimetinib.

Before the begging of the therapy he had 6 small lumps in the area of the primary tumor that disappeard after the 3 first weeks of the therapy. But now a small lump appears in the armpit. The doctor suggests us to do a second surgery and continue with immunotherapy because he think that the area is still active. That means that targeted therapy didnt work? We have a lot of buts and ifs in our mind.

Is anyone with the same experience?

I wish to all of you the best! Thank you in advance!!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your father's melanoma has recurred and it's natural to wonder if that means his treatment isn't working.

I don't have the experience you're looking for but I hopefully others who do will come forward to share their experience with you.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your father's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
