Hi, I have quite a long scar on my stomach and reading, it looks like I should massage it to help improve how it looks, feels... The trouble is I'm finding conflicting information on the Internet. Some say start doing it from 2 weeks, some say from 6, then with or without cream. Has anyone on here been given useful information about massaging your scar, or know of a useful link, that they could pass on. Thanks
Hi Redlis
My SCNS advised me to start massaging the scars from my WLE and SLNB after they'd fully healed. She said that there was no need to use any 'special' oil or creams for scars and that something simple like E45 was just as good.
As this was 6 years ago, it might be an idea to have a word with your SCNS to see if there's been any change in advice in the intervening years.

Same info here, I have a large one on my thigh and put e45 on it day and night (when I remembered!) I was a bit squeamish at first but manage it better now (6 months on) xx
My WLE was done in April, I have a significant scar across my chest. It was suggested to me to try the silicone patches. They made no difference whatsoever, nor has massaging with E45 or bio oil, my scar is exactly the same. This is possibly because of where it is, there is little skin on the chest area and I was warned of this ahead of the WLE. I have come to terms with my scar and no longer feel I have to cover it to avoid awkward stares.
