Hi,
Had WLE and SLNB on 7th April and now just waiting for biopsy results.
Had various estimates given to me at different points in time, I think the shortest was 3 weeks (which has now elapsed) and longest was 6 weeks. I also think that I was told I'd be called as soon as the results were available.
All I've heard so far is that I have a follow up appointment with the Plastic Surgery team (was 18 May but has been cancelled and rearranged for 27 May). I'm assuming this is a follow up from the surgery and not to give results.
Just wondered what the experience was for anyone else that was in the same situation?
How long did you wait and how were you informed of the SLNB result? I've had it done on the NHS in Lancashire.
Cheers
Hi, I waited five weeks last Autumn. Like you I had been told 3-6 weeks. My Plastic Surgeon had asked me at the time of the operation how I wanted to find out the results and we had put a placeholder date in the diary for 6 weeks after the date of the op. However I did chase his secretary after five weeks to see if the results were in. They were and so we moved to a video call and brought this forward by a few days.
I would imagine you will be informed at the late May date but it is probably worth calling in to see if the results are in yet.
Wishing you all the best.
Hi andyh1981 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
When I had my WLE and SLNB (5 years ago) I was given the results about 2 weeks later face-to-face by the surgeon who'd performed them. However, it depends how busy the pathology laboratories are as to how quickly your results will be back.
Let us know how you get on

Thank you. I think I'll give them a ring this week. Ideally I want the results as soon as they are available rather than waiting for an appointment.
Waiting for results is horrible and I can understand that you'd want them as soon as possible andyh1981. Just bear in mind that non-medical staff, ie the secretary or admin person that you speak to on the phone, won't be allowed to tell you the results. However, they might be able to arrange a telephone appointment with the surgeon.

Got a call from the secretary at the plastics this morning to book me in for a results phone call with a nurse this Friday morning at 9 45am. Gonna be a long three days!
I'm not sure if I can read anything into that. Have others received bad news by phone in the past?
