Hello

I had 2 moles removed early January as I had a new one grow rapidly and attach itself to another mole on my back. I have had the result today which have taken 8 weeks as they had to get a second opinion. They have conclude there is no melanoma but are taking my case to a skin cancer multidisciplinary meeting to see if I need further excision

Both moles have been diagnosed as Severely Atypical Compound Nevus . I’m not really sure what this means and why I may need a further excision. Does anyone know anything about this?

any advice would be great Blush

  • Hi

That's great to hear that it's been decided that your moles are not melanoma but I can understand why you're wondering what "Severely Atypical Compound Nevus" means.

As I can't find this description mentioned in any previous posts, I think this might be a good question to post in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the specialist nurses will respond within 3 working days.

If you do post in ask a nurse it would be really useful if you could come back and let us know what they say in case someone in future comes here asking the same questions.

When you feel ready it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
