Had my first infusions just two days ago. Tonight I'm getting severe spasms of pain in the affected lymph nodes on one side of my neck. Anyone else on this regime experience similar acute pain so soon after therapy?

I'm telling myself it is the melanoma cells having five bells knocked out of them by my lymphocytes. And it probably is... but... wow...paracetamol isn't touching it.

  • Hi Siegfried were you given literature on side effects and when to contact your team, I haven’t got one handy but I’d be reading it and getting ready to use the 24/7 number.

I hope your pain improves soon.

    Take care KT

  • Hi I had 4 lots of ipi and Nivolumab and it isn’t easy. People have different reactions to it  Mine was joint pain slight rash and tiredness . Some don’t manage to complete the four treatments but it still can have amazing results. I would contact your specialist nurse or the oncology department and explain how you are feeling. They could give you something to take that will help relieve the symptoms.I was given  some strong pain killers and anti sickness tablets. I am now on Nivolumab and have been n it over 2 years and now have only fatigue after the infusion. I do wish you well.

  • Hi KT. I was given a booklet on chemotherapy - not on immunotherapy but I've searched med literature for side effects on these drugs and nowhere does it mention pain in the tangible melanoma masses. The pain has gone this morning. I'll let it ride a bit but keeping it in my head as a positive sign!  Thanks for replying.
