I forgot to ask .... is it usually day surgery and is a drain generally fitted?

Thank you.

  • Gosh Mummybear2, that is bigger than I thought. Did you have stitches too?

Did you ever use a sunbed? I did Pensive but only ever went on for 3 minutes because of my fair skin.

  • Apologies, I  had jumped straight into the photos without seeing the post.

You are so brave how you talk about it, I hope I am as brave as you.

I hope I have steristrips, I  think that is a much better way of doing it. I am having my op in Coventry. Do you mind me asking where you had yours? You don't have to answer if you prefer not to.

I had stitches under the skin layer but they were dissolvable so didn’t need anything doing with them and just the steri strips on the top so nothing to remove.

No I never used a sunbed but I did get burnt on my tummy once when I was on holiday in India, I had cream on but was sat under a parasol so didn’t reapply enough and the parasol was thin and let the sun through. I thought I was in the shade and safe. No point in stressing about it now teetee, we can’t change however it was that we ended up here, all we can do is be positive and move forward with the albeit rubbish hand that we have been dealt! Believe me, I am not brave at all. There hasn’t been a day so far where I haven’t been reduced to tears thinking about it and I think I said before the anxiety of it is almost all consuming, but I am working very hard to try and get someway towards acceptance so that it doesn’t rule my life.

I had mine in Swansea by one of the plastic surgeons. I assume a plastic surgeon will be doing yours too? Xx

  • It is very hard and I imagine the reality of the whole thing hits home after all the operations are done and results are through.

Yes, it is a Plastic Surgeon that is doing mine.

  • Just want to say good luck on Thursday and hope you don’t have an overnight stay.Thank you also for your kind reply to my note about anxiety   I do realise we all have it and it’s best to keep busy and try to enjoy every day.

Was it your appointment today lovely? Forgive me if I’m wrong! How did it go? X

  • Hi Mummybear2

It is tomorrow at 4.30pm. Starting to feel anxious. Need to write lots of questions down that I have in my head.

    How are you today?

Oh gosh, yes it’s tuesday today not Wednesday. I knew your appointment was Wednesday but honestly, my head is mainly up my a$$ and I thought that was today.

Writing down is always a good thing to do, if you are like me I get overwhelmed with all the info and then just end up nodding that there is nothing else when they ask Rolling eyes so being prepared is no bad thing.

Im ok thank you, I think I’ve had a good day, I didn’t think about MM too much so that’s a start and we had pancakes with Nutella for tea so everybody is winning! Do you have to go to work tomorrow before your appointment? Is anyone going with you? X

  • Dont worry, I am exactly the same!

Just can't face writing it down as it's like facing reality Pensive

Yes, I have to go work tomorrow first, but will be leaving early and my hubby will be with me. I am at the doctors first thing too with my 20 year daughter as she was a large mole on her tummy. I am getting obsessed with moles. We are seeing the doctor that referred me as I want to thank her. I saw a different doctor in June 2017 and he told me it was nothing to worry about. I took a photograph of it, then over Christmas was looking through old photos of my Mum and came across it and saw it had got larger and darker, but none of the signs they warn us all about.

So glad you have managed to put it out of your mind for a little while. I am really busy at work so it takes my mind off it.... although when someone asked me yesterday how I was I started crying.

Ooh sounds lovely! It is just my son and me here tonight so will be doing pancakes in an hour when our tea has gone down. George has EVERYTHING to go on his! Cookie dough icecream, mini marshmallows, squirty cream, maple syrup! He has such a sweet tooth!
