I had two melanomas removed from my right leg last week. I’ve been told I will need a WLE a skin graph and SNB in about 6 weeks. I’m still trying to process all of this and get my head around what is to come. Will this operation involve an overnight stay in hospital, and what about recovery time. I would appreciate any advice, thanks.
Hi Pricilla
When I had my WLE and SLNB I was in and out of hospital the same day.
My WLE was on my arm and the SLNB in my armpit, so not in the same places as you. I only needed over the counter painkillers for a couple of days and by the time I went back for my post op check-up and results two weeks later I had full mobility back in my arm. It did take a long time though for sensation to return in the operation sites.
There are lots of people in the group who've had a WLE on their leg and hopefully some of them will be along soon to share their experiences with you. Where are you having the SLN removed from?
