I'm due a SNLB next week which I'm happy to have but my only concern is getting Lymphodema. Any thoughts on how common this is and how I can avoid this happening if possible.
When I had my pre-op I asked my surgeon how common lymphoedema was and he said that of over 500 SLNBs that he'd done only a handful of people ended up with it
As to how to prevent it, then assuming that the SLN being removed is in your armpit, you should never use that arm for anything medical in future, ie blood pressure checks, blood tests, vaccinations, etc.
