Hi.
I had a large mole removed in June and was diagnosed with melenoma stage 1b. Now I'm waiting to see the plastic surgeon ahead of having further skin removed from the back of my calf and a biopsy to see if the cancer has spread. My calf has been swollen and uncomfortable since and twice now my gp has referred me to the hospital with suspected DVT (blood clots). My D Dimmer score is 951. Both times DVT was ruled out. My concern is that my blood tests are "high" because the melenoma has spread. My leg isn't red or hot so infection is not likely.
Had anyone has a similar experience after a mole removal?
Hi Beebie welcome to the foum and sorry that you have not had a reply as yet. I personally dont have any experience of your type of issue. However, by my replying to your post it will bump it onto the thread where more people are hovering and may be able to help.
Sending best wishes for now. x
Hey Beebie3
On my case, it was more due to the fact that the doctors did not listen to me when doing the Wide local excision and the Lymp Node Biopsy.
Last year I found out, after a retinal vein occlusion, that I have a blood mutation, named Factor V laiden. Which means I have higher changes of blood coagulation.
Therefore during the surgey which I had under general anestezia, they should have put me compression socks or give me a shot of anticoagulants, which didn't happen, because they said the surgery was a low risk and under 1h.
1 weeks after the surgery, I started having pain in my calf, just pain,no swelling or redness, and the surgeon just dismissed me as anxious and all in my head.
1 month later, pain increased and finally got a prescription from my dermatologist, after insisting about the pain, and in fact once I did the ECO dopler it was found I had a small blood cloth, on one of the lateral veins.
Thank god it was not fully blocking the vein.
I ve been on anticoagulants for 2 months now, and on Friday I did another ECo and found out the blood cloth disolved and all good now.
Hope you won't have such experience, make sure anyway you ask all the questions you have, and always inform your doctor about any symptoms that may appear.
Best of luck!

Thank you MiciG.
I'm pleased to read your clot is dissolved now. Bit of a pain (literally ;-D) having a sore leg as I'm walking around the hills of Bath with my kids this week. I will definitely ask about this as I have had shooting pains and lots of midnight cramps in my calf since the mole removal.
