Hello

I had a WLE on my leg 7 months ago and the skin and muscle nearby seems to be getting tighter as time goes on. I wouldn't say it's painful but I definitely get sensations multiple times a day now and weekly nerve tingles.

Wondered if anyone else has experienced similar.

Also it has been so nice to read through forum posts around responding to 'just skin cancer' comments. I have really struggled with how much this can be played be down, more often than not to try and comfort me. I get comfort that I'm not alone in this.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

My WLE was on my arm but I didn't get the feeling of tightness that you're experiencing. Have you spoken to your SCNS about this?

  • Hi latchbrook what is a SCNS?

  • Sorry   SCNS stands for skin cancer nurse specialist.

  • Oh I don't have one, I think I've seen my doctor for a total of 15 minutes over two appointments in the last year, my last mole mapping was done in November and with appointments being cancelled due to staff shortages my next appointment isn't until the end of August nowX

  • It could be that your hospital doesn't have the resources to provide a SCNS Disappointed

  • Hi,

I had a WLE on my leg last August. I've had nerve like sensations since, at least once or twice a week. Like a sudden surge of pain or electrical shock type feeling deep in the wound - only lasts a few seconds. I've always assumed its just related the nerves reforming and adjusting and I'm not too worried about as they took a decent amount out so I expected it to take a while to adjust (I had SLNB too so my whole upper leg was numb for ages and even that sensation hasn't fully gone yet, although it has improved a lot). The only tightness sensation was for the first week or so after surgery. As  advised, I'd go see your doctor or nurse if it's causing concern as they will have experience to know what is normal.

    All the best!
