Hi there,
I am struggling to accept what’s happening.
I had my mole removed from my left calf in July 2021 as well as SLNB which was negative.
Before I was given dermatology referral I spent 6 months convicting my GP there is something wrong with my mole.. not ideal! I was so happy when this got all sorted last summer.
I see my specialist every 3 months for check ups - every single check up was good.
In April this year, my left thigh started swelling, it got to the point when I stopped doing day to day activities as it was too painful. Again, my GP didn’t think this is anything to worry about and I had to beg my specialist to see me. I waited 2 weeks for my specialist appointment, my lymph nodes in my left groin got swollen during this time.
Ultrasound was performed last week as well as fine needle biopsy of the lymph nodes. The doctor mentioned I developed lymphoedema in my left thigh. I should hear back from them next week regarding the biopsy results.
I don’t know what to think, I feel like I don’t receive the care I should, I am extremely worried about my future. I recently changed job and cannot afford to stay at home for another 6 weeks or so (after my WLE&SLNB I was recovering for 8 weeks during summer 2021). I don’t feel strong enough to go through another surgery or treatment.
Hi MickyB96
I'm sorry to read that you have the worry of waiting for biopsy results again along with a recent diagnosis of lymphoedema. Lymphoedema isn't something that I've suffered from but I do know that a few people in the group have had it. Did the doctor tell you what to do to help with this or have they referred you on to a specialist?
It's also not good to read that you don't feel you've received the care that you should have done. You may want to bring your concerns to the attentions of PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) at your hospital. They can help with concerns or problems that you're having.
Do come back and let us know the results of your biopsy.
(((hugs)))
