Melenoma stage 1b

Hi all

i recently had wider excision surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsy under my arm. Well one week yesterday.  My melonoma was a mole on my right shoulder abs was removed 22 Dec results 5 jan. I have had exclellent care and treatment from my local team and whiston hospital.  I had another mole removed at the same time on my back and a punch biopsy of another. Just wondering if anyone experienced pain on the under arm from the lymph node biopsy which is sensitive to touch.  Wondered how long the pain takes to settle? Got my wound check tomorrow 10 days.
thanks in advance

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I had a sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) from under my left arm. From memory, as it was 5 years ago now, I only needed to take paracetamol and ibuprofen for a couple of days after the operation. After that it was uncomfortable rather than painful. By the time I went back for the wounds to be checked and to get my results two weeks after the ops it felt comfortable.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Let us know how you get on tomorrow
