I have malignant pleural effusion and need a tunnelled indwelling pleural catheter (TIPC) inserted as the fluid in my pleura keeps coming back. I am rather apprehensive. Has anyone had that procedure or/and that type of lung cancer? How do you manage? Any tips? Thanks a lot.
Hi Veronique M
I can understand why you're feeling nervous about having a TIPC inserted to help with your pleural effusion and I noticed that you hadn't had any replies to your post yet.
I typed 'pleural effusion' into the group's search bar to see if I could find anyone who might be able to help you but only found a couple of old posts. I know that a pleural effusion can be caused by various different cancers so I had a peek in your profile to see what was your primary cancer but you haven't completed it yet.
However, looking through your previous posts I can see that you were originally diagnosed with breast cancer which has spread to your lungs. With that in mind I looked in the secondary breast cancer group and found lots of posts mentioning pleural effusion. I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join and post in that group. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.
When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I've only seen you reply now. Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my profile and do a search for me. I'll update my profile and will look at the breast cancer group. Thank you!
