Hi Revenue
welcome to the group, but sorry you have had to join us here. No I don’t think you are being paranoid, whenever we experience any new pain it is always concerning, and always causes anxiety. The good news is that the x-ray was clear, but I can fully understand how you are feeling.
You mentioned you had radiotherapy. I don’t know if you are aware, but radiation stays in your body for months after the treatment has ended. It continues to build up in your body until it peaks, and then you have to go down the other side. For me when I had radiotherapy, my “peak” was week 14 after treatment. It could be that the cough is from radiation inflammation. I would ask your lung nurse if she thinks this may be the case.
Hi ,thankyo so much for that information I wasn't aware about the radiotherapy, I do have rib pain but didn't know if it might be caused by the cough, will definitely talk to the nurses at my next tatment as my lung nurses aren't that forthcoming ,nice to know there's someone else out there we can talk to that understands
Hi
I had eight sessions of SABR radiotherapy on my left lung cancer in 2023, my last session was on the 15 December 2023. I still have rib pain and a harsh dry cough now and again, I also have tender to touch ribs in the area where the radiotherapy beam was directed, also my sternum, because the lung lesion was very close to the chest wall and lying very close to my sternum. CT scan follow ups have shown scar tissue in my left lung, which is inevitable unfortunately with radiotherapy.
Back in 1991 I had breast cancer stage2, I had surgery and 30 sessions of radiotherapy that caused radiation induced pulmonary fibrosis in the top part of my right lung, so inhibiting air entry to the top of the lung. Still, after all this time, I can still get tender ribs on the right side. It is something I have learned to live with.
You are very early days post-treatment, and, as Chell says, the radiotherapy will be still doing its job for awhile yet.
Best wishes.
Ann
