Hi,
This is some where I never thought I would end up. I was diagnosed with cancer in January this year and.was told the mass was between my chest and my heart. Long story short iv now been told its terminal and im struggling to keep my life in perspective. Lack of sleep, horrible thoughts are just some of the things im suffering from. I just want.some where to rant I guess........
Hi MarkP26
sorry you have had to join us here. I am not surprised that you are finding things hard after being given your news. Coming to terms with such news will take some time. I hope you have support at home from family or friends. This is a great place to come and off load your thoughts, you can also join the Living with incurable cancer forum - patients only
where you will connect with other members who are incurable, myself included.
Macmillan also offer a buddy service that you may find helpful, where you will be matched up to a volunteer who will call you once a week for a chat. You can arrange this by calling the MacMillan support line on 0808 808 00 00.
Thank you for your replies, I'd also add that iv lost my voice in all of this, literally. Happened at the beginning of all this and I cant seam to find it. Now that makes things harder to communicate. My wife thinks im just waiting to die and im not sure if I disagree with her. Iv always been a fighter regardless of the issue but this just seams like an impossible fight, one where I know the enemy but cant see them to fight them. Iv never been diagnosed as depressed so don't know how that feels but im told I am. I get told a lot of things....
I'm rambling again....
Hello Mark,
I'm Derek, the other community champ "looking after" the lung forum alongside Chelle. I'm very sorry to hear of your diagnosis.
I'm finding it difficult to say anything constructive to you without knowing more about your diagnosis and proposed treatment plan, although from what you are saying your thoughts and feelings appear to be very similar to mine when I was first diagnosed.
I'd certainly consider Chelle's suggestion to use Macmillan's buddy service to talk things through with someone. On the other hand if you want to talk feel free to send me a connect request, just click on my name above then on the connect tab at the top right hand side of the screen and I'll respond.
With my best wishes, Derek.
