Hi. I am new to sharing any personal stuff online, so here goes ....

I had VATS surgery in July 2025, having been a lifelong non smoker; reasonably fit and healthy.

I had no symptoms and so my diagnosis was a completely incidental finding, whilst undergoing investigations for another health issue. I feel extremely fortunate !

I am told the surgery was a success with no cancer detected in the surrounding tissue or lymph. No chemo or radio needed. I am due my first follow up scan in the spring.

I am still working on my cardio respiratory fitness, which is slowly improving Fingers crossed

I had a long, slow couple of months of recovery initially....nausea, vomiting, strong metallic taste, poor appetite, viral respiratory infection, slow wound healing due to a stitch left behind, severe wheeze, severe sore throat and trachea. After about 4 months, I started to feel more 'myself'.

However, 6 months on- I still have a noticable soreness ( but less than initial) in my throat and upper trachea, plus a bit of wheeze. I thought that any tissue damage ( caused by the wide 'air' pipe they use ?) would have healed by now ?

Has anyone else experienced this please?

All comments/ advice welcome. Thanks Slight smile
