Hi all

My dad has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer, told it's very aggressive and has spread. No treatment option and weeks at best to live.

Still trying to process it all, had little help or advice so far. Hoping you guys can help with questions that pop up.

Thanks

  • I am so sorry to hear that.  I was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and already had a few tumors in my brain.  They had me in the hospital the very next day and doing chemo.  I have done three rounds of chemo now(12 total days).  I started back in July.  I had a 9 cm tumor on my lung.  I am so sorry they don't feel like that is an option for your dad.  My father-in-law had cancer and they only gave him a few months.  He lived for eight more years.  I will pray your dad has many months to spend with you.

  • I am very sorry to hear this   please do call the MacMillan support line on 0808 808 00 00 who are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm

  • Sorry you're also going through this. It seems all too common these days.

Finally spoken to district nurse who apparently says dad isn't sick enough to qualify for any funding at all!

Not sure how sick you need to be!

  • Hi so sorry you find yourself here

I would ask the district nurse to explain the funding situation

I'm not an expert but if they are saying he is not sick enough then surely your dad would benefit from chemo or immunotherapy.

I understand that immunotherapy is normally only available in stage 4 progression but chemo/radiotherapy must be available.

I hope someone with greater knowledge than me could explain for you
