Hi David,
I had that problem too - get a brain tumour and they take away your driving licence. As if life wasn't hard enough already, it feels like they punish you for not being well.
I didn't want to impose on friends for lifts, especially not on a 3-weekly basis, and I'm an independent sort of chap anyway so I got clued up on public transport. The Traveline website works it all out for you - all types of transport, timetables, maps, the lot. Cheaper than taxis or minicabs and usually more reliable too - win-win. Plug in the postcodes and time you need to arrive and it does the rest.
Hope this helps.
kind regards,
Steve
welshlad . Hi David . I made use of the NHS patient transport service. Transported daily to my radiotherapy appointments. A free service in the NW. Usually volunteer ambulance cars. You can get the local phone number from your GPs. Best wishes.
I’ve also used patient transport when I broke my knee. In the NE we have good bus services to both the local hospitals. There is also a charity that runs transport for cancer patients. Your cancer nurse maybe able to make suggestions, or MacMillan or Maggies, if you have one locally.
Hope all goes well, Daisy
