Hi everyone I'm new hear but was wondering if anyone has issues with their platelets going down from Chemo then not really going up again. I finished Chemo at the end of March this year, I then had a few weeks break and started Immunotherapy and had 2 treatments before it was paused due to low platelets. That was 5 weeks ago and nothing has changed, the hospital are now running tests to find out if there is some underlying virus, I had bloods taken yesterday which were slightly lower than the last ones. I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue and what the outcome was.
TIA Chris
Hi Christine
So very sorry that you have cause to be on here.
Low red blood cell counts is not an unusual side effect of SCLC chemo treatment. During my treatment I had to have two units of red blood cell after both my 3rd and 4tc chemo cycle. Had no problems after the chemo finished.
Did you have any transfusions during your treatment? It may be worth raising with your Consultant the possibility of having a transfusion before you restart immunotherapy?
