Hello this is my first post. My husband is currently under going treatment folfiri for lung mets after an initial bowel cancer diagnosis last year 2024. He has had 2 months worth of treatment and he is saying that he is not sure with his symptoms if it is worth it. His skin is dry and flakey ( he has got cream which he use) and fragile it bleeds easy and he ended up with an infection and antibiotics. Feeling lethargic and just generally unwell. He has been told he has 2-3 years to live. Is it worth him persevering has anyone else had this treatment and what are your experiences. Thanks in advance

I’m currently waiting for some results but that’s a different story.
Many years ago now my father was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I was told he had about 6 months but they could never be certain. Anyway my Dad started to have chemo but he stopped after a couple of treatments as it made him feel very unwell. He told me he was going to eat what he wanted and enjoy the time he had left. Anyway he passed away after 3 months.
It could be worth talking to a MacMillan nurse about your situation. I hope your husband has a cancer nurse. She might be able to suggest a different cream or something else that will help him. It could be worth asking what may happen if he stops treatment. I’m sure you are giving him the best support but it is just as difficult supporting someone with cancer as it is to have the condition, obviously in a different way.
