Hi my mum is at the beginning of her journey having only been diagnosed a week ago. We are awaiting the MDT meeting to give the treatment plan so it's been a lot of waiting about for her. She's still in hospital trying to get her pain under control to allow her home and the meds are working however her anxiety about everything isn't helping. She gets anxious in the run up to knowing she is allowed extra pain relief but it takes the staff a while to get it sorted for her so it ends up feeling worse. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to help her try and relax, hard I know  but I just want to help in any way I can. She dies have anxiety meds available to her but looking for any additional options. Thank you

  • Hi' K8dky, yes the waiting. There's little that I can think of that we can do to help. The NHS machine just doesn't seam to turn fast enough for us. I'm waiting for the results of my last scan. I've been here before. in 03 for a bowel one then my last one in October 04 for my lung one. Obviously there are people in front of us but it isn't much comfort knowing they are getting their treatment. I know It's different for you looking in and feeling helpless. Before my problems started I had to witness my wife's cancer  as well as her other problems. It's so frustrating not being able to do anything. Hang in there and give your mum as much support as you can. We've all been there
