SCLC & Liver, stage 4, secondary

Hi all,

this terrible disease unfortunately hurts too many people in this world. My auntie has been diagnosed with stage 4 SCLC cancer which has spread to liver and lymph nodes. Possibly the spine and skin too… we’re just waiting on her results. My auntie had breast cancer 2 years ago and kicked its butt, however it’s come back for more :(

google is the worst and is telling us she basically has 0% chance of surviving.
has anyone been through anything similar? As a lot of you have mentioned the waiting is torture and you can’t help thinking they need to start chemo straight away. The consultant has said he thinks there will definitely be treatment (chemo).
How long will this prolong her life, if at all? Time matters in these situations so we can all be with her as much as we can, if it does come to the worst… My auntie is 68, fit still works full time (up until November when she got very ill).
shes feeling terribly weak, with her sodium levels also extremely low caused by the lung cancer. I feel helpless.

Thank you. Sending love and strength to all your close ones fighting this horrible disease x

  • Hi  welcome to the group, but sorry to hear about your aunt.
Lung cancer treatment has come such a long way, and there are so many treatments available now, people are living so much longer with lung cancer than ever before. Please stop googling. Google is outdated, and it will just make you worry unnecessarily.

Everyone’s cancer is different, and everyone reacts differently to treatment. It is so hard to say how your aunt will get on with treatment. If her sodium levels are low she will be feeling very unwell. Hopefully this will be sorted for her soon and she will start to feel better.

Can I also suggest you look at joining the Family and friends forum where you can connect with other members who are supporting loved ones. You can also call the support line on 0808 808 00 00 who are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm.
