I had a chest X-ray a few weeks ago and was told there was a shadow that would need further checking. CT scan soon afterwards. Results on Wednesday last week - I have cancer with a 4cm tumour in one lung and a small one (??) in the other, further investigation needed - a PET-CT scan, an Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) and a needle biopsy. Once all that done the MDT can discuss and recommend pathway. Had a lung function test at the beginning of this week - not a clue how that stacked up. Unfortunately I had a massive brain haemorrhage in January of this year and although mostly fixed needed a stent insertion in my brain in June. Because of the meds I am on for that (anti-platelet) they cannot do the EBUS or biopsy until late September (I come off the meds at the three month point, which is two months early). This is nobody’s fault - NHS are doing what they can, but at the moment it is the not knowing…the waiting. I am sure I am not alone in this.
Hi Standrews
Im not in the same position but I know the feeling of waiting.
I found that so stressful.
My bowel cancer was picked up June 21 by a FIT my operation was August 21, I had lots of tests and contact with my team but I found that the worst.
My lung was picked up on the yearly Sep 22 scan for my bowel op eventually the cancer was removed March. I wasn’t as worried about that as I knew it was small and I’d had a lot to manage with my bowel
Gosh you are going through the mill with your brain and lung.
Take care of yourself
Ann
Hi standrews
Sorry you find yourself here but you will find we are a great group of people.
Sorry to hear your situation is going to take some time to resolve but take heart they will get things sorted for you. In the mean time try and stay positive and healthy so you are in a good place to commence treatment when your situation allows. The not knowing is difficult so stay occupied make sure you do things that make you happy.
Do you have any plans for the bank holiday you don't need to focus on the what it's while you are waiting so I hope you have made some plans for this weekend.
Hugs for now
Donna
