I’m not new to cancer as was successfully treated for rectal 21 with Ileostomy (stoma) reversed thirteen months later then mild complications then nodules in lungs. Appointment for lung function then consult saying grey area for cancer.

Then nurse writing business card in her hand writing at the top LUNG CANCER

What!

I am not happy with the way I’ve been told  and when I asked apparently it’s another Primary!
So lucky me I’ve got potentially two primary’s

sorry to be negative I am a positive person mostly however I am very anxious but hopeful that I can get some treatment!

  • Good morning Artsie.

Sorry you find yourself joining this group, on a positive note you will find we are a friendly bunch who support each other very well. If you tap my avatar you can read about my journey so far. Cancer is not easy and you seem to have been very unlucky with you diagnosis and how you have been told about it, you could make a complaint if you are so minded to, however without trying to sound flippant may I suggest you focus on getting treatment or now. It's very important you use all your strength to fight the cancer.

You should seek help with your anxiety if you have a specialist nurse speak to them about it or you could use the macmillion support line it's free to call and they are very good with this.

Whatever you do don't consult Google it's always out of date and the information is not accurate. I understand this is a very difficult confusing time for you, you will find lots of help and support in this forum. If you want to chat about anything please feel free to message in the meantime take care.

    Hugs Donna

  • Thanks Donna

Im not complaining the NHS are pushed to the max. I’ve stayed away from Google I get my info here as I frightened myself silly on Google when I had bowel cancer.
Have a good day. I’m out for breakfast

  • Just an update

I arrived early for the biopsy but the consultant explained that at their MDT they discussed options and wanted me to have a choice

Wait and See ( but it’s growing)

    Targeted Radiotherapy

    Surgery

The cancer is unknown until they biopsy it. The small lesions they aren’t worrying about at the moment. If the lung turns out to be from the bowel it’ll be stage 4

Ive decided to have surgery keyhole if the PET scan shows that’s best option

So they’re fast tracking the PET scan and surgery to be done in two weeks. Top and bottom wedge surgery of right lung

Not sure if correct term   It’s been a long day  I will look it up at some time  I have a pile of leaflets to go through

I’ve past the preop. Now I’ll work cardio on our treadmill to aid recovery. I’m staying positive hoping that it’s not stage 4 and my team can sort it out and get it in the bin

Tonight no healthy eating or drinking. Hubbys gone to get peking duck. I need to treat myself

  • I had two primary cancers at the same time - lymphoma and lung cancer.  It's not as uncommon as you might think, and improved treatments mean that in the future even more people will experience multiple cancers in their lifetime.

As your surgery date is so soon, I assume they won't go ahead with a biopsy.

Like you, I was offered a choice of SBRT or surgery.  That's a choice which is only offered with curative intent.  I opted for the radiotherapy as I had just finished chemotherapy for lymphoma when I was diagnosed with lung cancer but I did eventually have a VATS lobectomy early last year.

  • Thanks Lolie

The very last decision taken was that I would have a PET scan as the CT wasn’t contrast last time so my surgeon said that a PET was needed. If the two lesions of top and bottom of the right lung are all that’s of concern then he will operate and remove them. They would be tested if they are from the Bowel I will be stage four and I would be discussed at the MDT if not I will be free. He can’t actually say it’s definitely a primary without the biopsy!
I’m very tired of the anxiety that we’ve had since 2021. It’s very depressing

Once I get the scan and a definite plan I will be absolutely fine and go for it
