Hi apologies I'm new to this and trying to understand how people, particularly older patients might feel after their 6th session and when do you start to feel better?
My mother in law is in her 80's and has finished her 6th session and is feeling the worst and weakest that she has ever felt. She has lung cancer. Am trying to be positive but also realistic, thank you.
Hi Teralc, welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. Chemotherapy can be very harsh on anybody, no matter what their age, and unfortunately it effects everybody differently, so is impossible to compare one person to the next. If there is anything at all that you are concerned about with your Mother in law whilst she is undergoing her treatment, please do call her oncology team. She would have been given a contact number for this very situation. Chemo can strip the bloods whilst fighting the cancer, so your mother in law may have a low blood count. Do you know when she last had a blood test, and is there another one due? They do check the patient's bloods before each chemo session.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
