scared and alone

  • Hi

My Name is Donna I’ve just seen your post, I have lung cancer diagnosed at Christmas. Would you like to expand on the statement in your post scared and alone, I would like to help if I can I know how it feels. We are all here for the same reason and we all know how it feels to have a cancer diagnosis. Please don’t feel scared and alone.

    send a big hug

    Donna

  • Hi Mrs D, having a cancer diagnoses is scary, but you are not alone. Lots of people here would like to chat with you and share experiences. Also you can phone the Macmillan support line on 0808 808 00 00. They are there for you 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm. I think it would be a good idea for you call them and asked about the “buddy” service, they could arrange for someone to call you once a week. Xx

  • Hiya

I am so pleased you found the macmillion site and joined this forum. There is no need for you to feel alone. I understand why you have these feeling a cancer diagnosis is very hard to hear. You will find lots of people on here will chat with you and the chat doesn’t always need to be about cancer. We all have a laugh and joke it helps us get through.

as far as your diagnosis goes, the prognosis time frame you have been give is at best an estimate, have you considered looking for a trial it might be able to help with some treatment. Please don’t feel scared and alone, I’ve sent you a friendship request all you need do is accept it and we can chat anytime or you can continue using this forum, it’s up to you.

You can use he macmillion helpline if you need to speak to someone for impartial advise they are very kind and understanding.

have a lovely evening and I’m here if you want to chat

    hugs Donna

  • Hi Donna, Thanks for taking the time to respond to me. I have pre existing conditions before i got lung node and bone cancer.

Im scared off dying scared off leaving and keep crying  Not sure how i feel any more

so i don’t have many options. apart from chemo and that is making me ill been in hospital twice for blood transfusion’s.
I’m scared to what’s going to happen to my autistic son off 26 i’m in touch with social services but they are so slow and i want to sort it out before i die.

It breaks my heart that i am leaving him behind as he relies on me to look after him.

    take care.

  • Dear Donatella,

im so sorry to hear your fear and despair about your son. Social Services can be slow. Get your GP onboard if you can. If there is a palliative specialist GP in your practice ask them to write to social services.
Explain your needs clearly and phone them.
I hope you get some support from social services and any palliative care teams or hospice workers in your area.
    best Wishes

  • Hi Mrs D.

So sorry to hear that you are in such distress.  Are you in pain and is it being well managed?

I ask as someone who is also Stage 4 NSC with mets to bones and adrenal glands and it was awful when the pain was bad.  I have it under control at the moment. You are braver than me asking for a prognosis. I have never asked.

I'm happy to chat any time. Xxxxx

  • Hi Harebellle,

Thank’s for responding to my message. My pain is ok as i was on lots off pain medication before i had lung cancer ect. As i have peripheral vascular disease. and i have very limited blood going to my legs. just got back from hospital they didn’t have my scan results. But she had my lung x-ray and my tumours have stunk which-is good news. Grin.

Hope you have a lovely day
